Hello Wave Community! My name is Trevor Bosetti, I am going into my 4th year at the University of Florida where I am Majoring in Business Management and have minors in Entrepreneurship and Real Estate. I Have always had an interest in business and selling whatever I could for as much of a profit I could make. I believe I really tapped into my entrepreneur spirit when I was 14 and I would go down to the dollar store where I would buy packs of party type souvenirs then go down to Clearwater beach and flip them to tourists. Since then I have become immersed in the culture surrounding entrepreneurship which led into the start-up community. Today, I am an active member of the Entrepreneur Collective at UF a club that I have heard is similar to Waves origins, where students interested in the field meet once a week to share stories and collaborate on potential ideas. Although I am ready to dive headfirst into the start-up industry I know there is still a lot to learn and I am excited to gain some valuable experience and knowledge this summer.
I am very lucky and grateful to have the opportunity to work as an investor relations intern this summer where I get to learn firsthand from Allen Clary the Director of investor relations here at Wave. In my first few weeks I have already learned a great deal and I’m ready for more. The hope is that by being immersed in the start-up culture and interacting with both a variety of investors and founders I will have a better understanding of what it takes to be successful in this field. I believe a better understanding of the collaborative ideologies between founders and investors will give me a competitive advantage when I go back to school in the fall and into my future career. I believe my strengths lay on the business development side of the spectrum so a better grasp of how founders operate in the early stages of their company is paramount and something of serious interest while gaining knowledge in how and what investors look for and the methodology of how they come to those conclusions is on the same side of that coin. That being said, I cannot think of a better opportunity to become more familiar with both of these aspects. Hopefully I can take full advantage of this summer and take on as much experience and information as I possibly can.
In terms of my future I hope to be in the field of social entrepreneurship or more distinctly a focus on sustainable development. A key area of concern in today’s society is the continuation of innovation and development, but in a way that benefits both people and the planet. Finding ways to carry on with the rapid movement of innovation while sustaining our resources is something I hope I can be a part of in the near future.
Outside of the world of business you can find me on the beach or doing something sports related whether it’s playing or watching. Growing up only 15 minutes from the beach that aspect is a given and sports are just something I have always had a passion for, although being a Tampa sports fan has admittedly not always been easy….
Overall I am very excited to be here, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself. Hopefully I will be lucky enough to meet the majority of you!
